Thanks for your support.

I installed the SDK on a clean computer and it works fine now...

I should have done that earlier instead of complaining :0)

Re: I'm so totally fed up with the immature BB10 development environment

I have to say that I think the original post makes a fair point. I've just installed the BB OS 10 NDK and have then spent the next twenty minutes trying to get the bundled eclipse to recognise that there is actually an NDK installed. Given that the future of BlackBerry pretty much depends on attracting quality developers to their platform, then that simply isn't the best way to go about it. God knows how many people have thought they'd have a quick dabble to see if the NDK and IDE are any good, found they couldn't even create a project and then just given up. When you're competing against MS (I've never had a problem after installing Visual Studio with creating a project) then you simply cannot afford to be making blunders like that. I moved away from using Eclipse for anything years ago as it just became a pain to use. I've heard JetBrains are working on a C++ IDE and they make really good IDEs - may be worth bunging them some money to do a BB OS 10 dev edition.

My original error (Windows 8, 64 bit) was:

"New Blackberry Project
java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException"

when trying to create a new project in the bundled Eclipse.

I fixed the problem following some of the info in another post listed and by changing it slightly. So:

1) Go into you ndk install directory and create a file called: bbndk.bat

2) In that file, add (changing the path as necessary - the path was incorrect in the post I read):

@echo off
start C:\bbndk\ide\win32\x86\eclipse\qde.exe %*.

3) At the end of 'bbndk-env_10_1_0_1020.bat', add:

call %BASE_DIR%\bbndk.bat

4) Now run bbndk-env_10_1_0_1020.bat

PS If anyone from BlackBerry is listening, a Z10 'max' edition with a bigger battery would persuade me to part with my Razr Maxx. Carrying a spare around is just a massive pain and now I'm used to my phone lasting for days if needed.

Re: I'm so totally fed up with the immature BB10 development environment

That would be really great! I really liked the UI on the PlayBook (which I sold to my Dad today), it's much better than having to press buttons.

I really like the ability to repackage Android apps, though out of the three I tried (Ambling Audiobook Player, anMoney and Mantano Reader), only anMoney seemed to work. But even if only a third of Android apps work, that's still a massvie win...if ou can persuade the devs to repackage them in the BB app store.

My BB contact here in Sweden says there will be an upgrade to the Andoid emulator with support for Jelly Bean not too far away...

Re: I'm so totally fed up with the immature BB10 development environment

Sounds good. I guess the only thing I'd really miss then is Swype/Swift (with Swype like functionality). I think I read somewhere that BB licenses the prediction tech from the makers of Swift Keyboard, so hopefully they'll eventually update with their version of Swype.

Please post back if you get a link to the bigger battery.
