Link to BlackBerry Maps from within E-Mail or BBM Message

If I send an E-Mail or a BBM message containing a URL like

http://maps.blackberry.com?lat=48.77678000&lon=8.14559300&z=2&label=TopSpeed%20213,1%20km/h

to an older BlackBerry Smartphone, e.g. 8900 running OS 5.0, the Maps app is started and the Map is shown including a Marker with the correct label.

If I open the link on a Dev Alpha or a PlayBook then the web browser will start and shows a static map. The marker is shown, but the %20 are not converted to spaces.

On the Developer Conference they told us the link will work from 4.x on up to the newest devices. I am using the wrong link or link format? Where can I find a documentation of the link format? I could not find it.

Re: Link to BlackBerry Maps from within E-Mail or BBM Message

Hi,

BB10 is a completely new platform and the statement you had heard on our conferences was probably pointing to our Java based devices only.

I am not aware of BB10 supporting this types of links today.

That said, I agree that this is an important use case and I will raise this as a request to our product teams for maps immediately.

Thank you and appreciate you bringing this up.
