Playbook or BB10?

I've been working on mostly Java apps lately, but I would like to look into native apps for either the playbook or upcoming BB10 devices. I notice that there are different resources and downloads for each and was wondering if they are interchangeable or if I should investigate one or the other. I know PB apps will be portable to BB10 devices so rather than relying on the BB10 simulator should I just start with the PB SDK? As always thanks guys!

Re: Playbook or BB10?

If you want to use the Native SDK and don't want to roll your own UI framework (or aren't already using one, as many game devs do), then you should probably dive into the BB10 stuff and focus your attention on Cascades.

Cascades is where it's at... the future of native apps on BB10.

Use the sim for now, and keep an eye on the BB10 Jam Road Show venues to see where you can attend: http://devblog.blackberry.com/2012/05/blackberry-10-jam-road-show/#more-9236

Re: Playbook or BB10?

I notice that there's no mention of gifted hardware for BB10 app development (as was supplied at the recent BlackBerry Jam event in Florida, allowing recipients to avoid the pleasures of the simulator).

(RIM?) Is there any information at this point whether or not attendees at the upcoming BB Jam events are / are not receiving development hardware?

Re: Playbook or BB10?

That has been discussed in a different thread: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Native-Development/Devices-for-people-not-able-to-attend-BB-W...

Re: Playbook or BB10?

Also since I haven't seen it mentioned when ppl mention NDK+Cascades, you can also to NDK extensions for AIR. So if you've ever done JNI with Java, its really similar.
