Possible to build a cross-compiler for PlayBook?

Hi fellow BlackBerry developers,

As an owner of a 32GB PlayBook, I would like to start developing an application for it but I was wondering if it was possible to use the SDK on Solaris as I currently use that on my main desktop.

I do own a Mac so I could install the SDK there, but my Solaris box is much newer and faster.

Can GCC be built to cross-compile for the PlayBook SDK?

Re: Possible to build a cross-compiler for PlayBook?

I think it's possible. Looks like all the toolchain uses more-or-less standard tools (gcc, binutils, gdb...) that conveniently give their config options when asked.

Lot of RIM-specific tools seems to be implemented in java, so also good there.

I'm not sure that it would be worth it. Especially if you have to spend a handful of hours to get the toolchain working and double that to get the IDE and debugging right.

Maybe a Windows VM on your machine would be more painless.
