QML Preview on Gold Release (Windows 8)

I just tried opening a QML file on the new Gold Release of the Cascades SDK.

I got a message saying that it was checking compatibility. Then it told me the test had failed, and that Preview was now disabled.

What it didn't do is tell me why....

I'm on Win 8, which is also now supported, but it I assume there is still something extra I need to update for the QML Preview?

I have the same problem on Win7. Try switching the sdk to v1673 on top of the IDE.  It will reload the workspace.

Re: QML Preview on Gold Release (Windows 8)

I did switch it, but when Momentics restarted it didn't do the check, it just left the feature disabled.

Since it's working for you, I'll have a hunt through the settings and see if I can get it to do the check again.

Re: QML Preview on Gold Release (Windows 8)

had this problem with upgrading from Beta 3 to Beta 4. After I couldn't solve it, I uninstalled the SDK completely, rebooted and installed the new, and everything worked fine (Win 7).

Have done the same with Gold, so that's no real upgrading, but worked even without reboot...

Re: QML Preview on Gold Release (Windows 8)

I had the same issue this morning after doing a clean install of the GOLD SDK on Windows 8.  The FIX is to update Video Card driver from ATI or NVIDIA and it will work. In my case, I had a ATI card and after updating driver, it worked. No need even for a reboot.

You would need to go to Windows > Preferences > BlackBerry > QML Editor and uncheck Disable QML Preview

I've had the same issue. What I did was clean the whole workspace Project -> Clean ... -> clean all projects.

Then I've build the project which I'm working on currently

Restarted the IDE (don't know whether it was necessary)

And lastly I've enabled the preview like choudhry described before me:

"You would need to go to Windows > Preferences > BlackBerry > QML Editor and uncheck Disable QML Preview"

The IDE had again checked for compatibility and this time it didn't complain. My QML preview is working as it should Smiley Happy.

I found follow error in logs - IDE try to open file, which is not exist ("c:/temp" is a windows temp directory for me - and it's  not a default path).

also, it requiried a GL ES2 - so you need to use up-to-date drivers from ATI/NVIDIA
