Re: Qt on BB playbook -- is there much actual interest in this?

BGMot said "BTW 4.8.3 did not work at all on BB10 without this patch:"

I disagree with this comment.  I have been building 4.8.3 straight from the git with no needed patch and it is working fine.  What features did not work without that patch?

Re: Qt on BB playbook -- is there much actual interest in this?

It always detects two displays on BB10 and initializes two screens respectively and for the second screen I was getting:

QBB: failed to register for screen events on screen...

Re: Qt on BB playbook -- is there much actual interest in this?

Just thought I'd say Hi Smiley Happy

I'm also very much interessted in using Qt on BB devices. So far I've played around with MeeGo and Symbian Qt Components. Then I've ported a game using Qt5 and recently ported Symbian Qt Components to Qt5 to get better performance on BB devices. Unfortunately there are still some perf. issues. Once they are solved I'd like to integrate display orientation changes and maybe more.

There are more users here doing similar things, one for example tried to implement battery status in Symbian Components.

#qt-qnx on Freenode would be the best starting point.

Re: Qt on BB playbook -- is there much actual interest in this?

I would suggest filing a request on the bug reporting tool, or perhaps send an email to KDAB directly.

I had a couple questions about the port awhile back and sent an email to their head office in Sweden and received a prompt and friendly answer within hours of sending the email.

Re: Qt on BB playbook -- is there much actual interest in this?

I am stunned by how quickly and how professionally KDAB guys respnd. KDAB rocks!

and a little snip from one of their e-mails:

<snip>

info@kdab.com is not the best contact point for these kind of questions. I
recommend using the Blackberry Developer Forums instead - we have recently
started monitoring them for the 'Qt' keyword, so as long as your post contains
that, we should now see it.

</snip>

So, if you have problems/questions on Qt post here!

Re: Qt on BB playbook -- is there much actual interest in this?

And what do they say? Will there be any time soon an official Qt SDK for playbook?

Re: Qt on BB playbook -- is there much actual interest in this?

There are some really old Qt for Playbook SDKs at https://github.com/blackberry/Qt/downloads. However these are really outdated by now, I recommend to not use them. I don't know about any plans for newer SDKs.

I recommend instead compiling Qt + QtCreator from source, http://qt-project.org/wiki/Blackberry should have all the information needed for that.

Re: Qt on BB playbook -- is there much actual interest in this?

Thanks. I know about these. I am more interested if Qt for BB will be part of the downloadable official SDK.
