Sharing content via a custom URL?

I would like my app to be able to intercept custom URLs that start with myappname://. So for example the user receives an email with the URL myappname://some_data and, as long as the user has installed my app, this URL (or just the data) is somehow passed on to my app which is invoked and displays things accordingly.

Is this possible on BlackBerry 10 using Cascades?

Re: Sharing content via a custom URL?

Instead of using a custom URL, point to a script on your webserver. Then, from the webserver, send a push message to the phone to start the app, passing any data it may need.

A bit of a kludge, but it should work.

How should the webserver get the information needed to identify the device?

Re: Sharing content via a custom URL?

Add some kind of identifier to the link in the e-mail message.
