Re: Take a Screenshot without prompt

With Q10 you get a screen shot by pressing both ends of the volume button at the same time.

Re: Take a Screenshot without prompt

I believe for now there's no API to allow this *without the prompt*. At least, not for third-party apps.

Similarly, as of 10.2 or so, there's no way to set the wallpaper without a little alert going up to notify the user.

Both things are quite annoying and there should be some fine-grained permissions that allow users to allow selected apps to do this unobtrusively. It's the usual battle between a desire for strong security and a desire to let power users do what they want without inconvenience.

Re: Take a Screenshot without prompt

So is there really no way to take a screenshot programatically?

Even if the user gave permission when the app was intially installed? What is the point of asking on install then?

Is there a way around this or another permission to put in the xml file other than "use_camera_desktop"?

Re: Take a Screenshot without prompt

I'm a power user and would be really uncomfortable if this would be possible without a promt – even with a special permission…

These apps could just take screenshots without me knowing, even when running as a background app…welcome NSA…

I wrote the screenshot feature.

You are not allowed to bypass the screenshot prompt for security reasons.

You are free to screenshot your own app using the screen_read_window() API.

Also, for the record, the screenshot is captured before the prompt appears, so if it's timing you're concerned about, that's not an issue.
