Very disappointed in 10.2.

So been waiting for months for 10.2 and after installing the update and reading over the api and docs I just find it very disappointing and getting a sick feeling.  Nothing worth cheering for.  Still can't find anything new about the Telephony api (how to get the caller's phone),  background headless app is way too complicated and must get approval from BB to run forever. JAVA background app is way simplier and even Android ported apps can run in true background mode with all the BS BB is enforcing on devs.

Anyone else find 10.2 lacking?

Feels like back in the Java days.  Very restricting and no help from BlackBerry.

Re: Very disappointed in 10.2.

to make all the new things run, you need both:

10.2 SDK plus 10.2 OS

SDK just is Gold, documentation and sample apps don't include all at the moment,

so we should give them some more time

for headless apps: you only need extra permission if you need long-running headless apps -

from my POV this is a good decision.

It's really important to verify that headless apps don't cosume too much CPU or dry the battery.

headless apps and triggers: this is only the first step - more will follow.

for the phone API: I'm also waiting for informations how to get the number - expect next week more infos

BB10 is only something more then 6 months old since launch and from my POV there's a huge progress in such a short time done

Re: Very disappointed in 10.2.

I have to agree, there isn't a lot to get excited about in 10.2 but it can't always be ground-breaking releases.

Having used the new Momentics since the Beta I do think this is a big improvement, at least in stability for me.

Personally I'm more worried about the company being bought out, parts sold off, and all the hard work I and others have put in to writing native apps wasted.

Re: Very disappointed in 10.2.

I'm more interested in the Phone API then anything else.  I have BBOS customers who are waiting for the BB10 version and i kept telling to wait.

I hope BB put out new headless samples cuz the Push sample is why too complicated for simple headless apps that I need to do.

I'm worry too that BB will not be aound in 6 months if someone buys them.  Doing BB is my full time job and I don't want to move to Android or iPhone.
