getting Sound to work

Hey everyone, I've been using the cowbell tutorial as a base to try and get sounds to play in my app, however, I cannot seem to get it to work, when I build it I always get an error in the "app",cpp file that it cannot find the any of the ALUT api, I don't know what I am missing compared to the tutorial and I know this is an ambiguous question so I am just hoping someone might have run into this before and have a solution.

If not I'll keep working at it, it just takes a while, thanks!
