Re: how to track contact book, calendar, email etc.

There is no way to do this yet, but if you check the new "Flight Arrival Boards" you can learn about upcoming APIs that may support it.  http://devblog.blackberry.com/2012/08/flight-arrival-boards/

In this case, check the Cascades one, where you'll see CALENDAR-CRUD and CONTACTS_CRUD, among other things, which could be used for some of what you want.

This forum is for the "Native SDK" on the PlayBook and upcoming BB10 devices, not for the Java-based BBOS development on the older BB phones.  Advice from the past doesn't really help here...

Re: how to track contact book, calendar, email etc.

Personal Assistant stores contacts as vCard files in a sub-directory under documents (pim/contacts). There is no API that was available when it was released. We were then (and still are) hoping that RIM has an open and easy way to share this information between apps.
