hu_KDFDerive()

hu_KDFDerive()

http://developer.blackberry.com/native/reference/bb10/crypto_libref/topic/hu_kdfderive.html

Trying to use it like:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.security.cryptography.rfc2898derivebytes.iterationcou...

Here are my questions:

1. How can a "salt" be provided to hu_KDFDerive?
2. What is the "const unsigned char *addInfo" argument?
3. How can the concept of "iterations" be achieved with hu_KDFDerive?

Thanks,
Daniel

Re: hu_KDFDerive()

[Old thread...]

The BlackBerry/Certicom KDF is aligned with NIST's KDFs. (And AFAIK is FIPS validated)

The additional info used here is for making the same source material different in different contexts. There is no way to provide a count to this algorithm.

This library doesn't offer a KDF exactly like you linked on the Microsoft site.

The Certicom library contains the primitives that you'd need to build that KDF. OpenSSL is also included on the device - I have not reviewed it to see if this KDF is there...

Thanks.
