"Unable to get asset" error

A very strange error:

"Unable to get asset in (/apps/eu.marcelnijman.Chesswise.testDev_n_Chesswise49d5036b/native/assets/): (/introview.Q10.en.png)."

Image not found:  "/introview.Q10.en.png"

I'm sure the image is there. It shows up on the simulator file system. Even stranger, a different project with the same calling code and the same asset name works fine. Cleaning the build and deleting the app from the simulator to start fresh doesn't help. What could cause this problem?

update:

All my assets have owner=89 and group=900 on the device file system, but the offending files have owner=100 and group=100. How could that have happened? On my computer, they all have the same owner/group.
