I made an app that shows japanese characters.
I downloaded all kinds of simulators to see if it worked in all the various builds (please don't do the same for BB10! Do one build for the whole world, please!), and all builds greater than 7.0 had the asian fonts preinstalled.
Now I get a bug report saying that the japanese characters are replaced by black squares.
I contacted the user back, and he said that also on web pages the asian encoding is not rendered.
That means on T-Mobile build 188.8.131.524 the asian fonts are not preinstalled???
What I can do?

In BlackBerry OS 7.x and lower, the carrier chooses the languages they wish to support for their users. There is no way for a user to add additional languages their carrier doesn't support.
That being said, it is possible for users to add/remove languages that the carrier does support. The user can do that through Desktop Manager using a similar process that they'd use to upgrade the OS.
For BlackBerry 10, a more unified OS release configuration is planned.
