Summary

This article applies to the following:

  • BlackBerry® Tablet OS SDK for Adobe® AIR®
  • BlackBerry® WebWorks™ SDK for  the BlackBerry® Tablet OS

Problem

The following error is received when attempting to sign your application.

Code signing request failed because Common Name in developer certificate is not [value].

Cause

BlackBerry Tablet OS Applications you deploy must be signed using your Developer Certificate and your BlackBerry Tablet OS Signing Key.

The Common Name (Company Name) specified in your Developer Certificate and BlackBerry Tablet OS Signing Key must match.  If they do not you will receive the error above when you attempt to sign.

Resolution 1 - Modify your Developer Certificate

You can create a new Developer Certificate or choose an existing Developer Certificate that has a Common Name (Company Name) that matches the Company Name of your BlackBerry Tablet OS Signing Key.  Please refer to the following URL for steps on configuring a Developer Certificate.

Resolution 2 - Request a new BlackBerry Tablet OS Signing Key

Request a new BlackBerry Tablet OS Signing Key using the web form linked to below.  When filling out the form ensure you enter the Common Name (Company Name) of your Developer Certificate in the Company Name field.  These values must be identical.
