Optimal size of my blackberry application to run on low bandwidth also

[ Edited ]
  • What are the ways of optimizing the programming lines of code, so

that the application is thin and fit to run on my BLACKBERRY ?

  • What is the optimal size of an application for blackberry mobile so

that it is able to run on a low bandwidth GPRS also..????

Right now the size of my application is 2.8 MB...

Is is too much to run on a low bandwidth GPRS data??? If so what are the general steps required to minimize my app size ??

OR if at all the app-size has nothing to do with running an applcation on low bandwidth GPRS and I am misunderstanding the concept behind it,

I am sorry..pls do correct me..!!

Normally GPRS has nothing to do with the app size.

What technology are you using for the development of the application (Native, Cascades, Android)? Are you developing for BB10?

Some general remarks for optimizing your application size:

  • Give your code a clean-up. There are maybe methods that aren't used anymore
  • Watch out for images. They can consume a lot of the application size. Try to optimize the images as much as possible. You can probably have the same quality for a lot smaller size. You also have tools like http://imageoptim.com/ which help you for this. Sometimes it is better to use system default icons/images so you don't have to save them in the app itself
  • Try to refactor your code, maybe you can write parts of it a lot shorter

A like is always appreciated,
but a nomination for BB Elite even more :-)
