This article applies to the following:

  • BlackBerry® Java® Development Environment (JDE)
  • BlackBerry Device Simulator

Use any of the following methods to install and run an application in the BlackBerry Device Simulator:

  1. In the BlackBerry JDE, click Debug > Go. This will build your active projects and place the application files in the default simulator directory.
  2. You can wirelessly download an application to the BlackBerry Device Simulator by browsing to the .jad/.cod or .jad/.jar files. It is important to note that these files must be hosted on a web server and the BlackBerry® MDS Simulator must also be running. Please see this article for information on configuring the Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension (MIME) types for a web server.
  3. Copy the application .cod file(s) into the default simulator directory, where the BlackBerry Device Simulator .bat files are located.

For example, the default simulator directory for BlackBerry JDE 4.2.1 is located in C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry JDE 4.2.1\simulator

  4. From the BlackBerry Device Simulator, click File > Load Java Program. Locate your application .cod file and click OK.
