by Retired ‎02-17-2010 11:22 AM - edited ‎02-17-2010 11:23 AM (1,965 Views)

Summary

This article applies to the following:

  • BlackBerry® Java® Development Environment (BlackBerry JDE)
  • BlackBerry® JDE Plug-In for Eclipse™
  • BlackBerry JDE Component Package

Problem

The BlackBerry JDE SignatureTool fails to launch and the following exception displays after configuring a proxy server without a port number:

Exception in thread “main” java.lang.NullPointerExceptionatjava.util.Hashtable.put(Unknown Source)at java.util.Properties.setProperty(Unknown Source)at net.rim.device.codesigning.signaturetool.b.a(Unknown Source)at net.rim.device.codesigning.signaturetool.SignatureTool.main(Unknown Source)

Cause

The proxy port is a required field, but the SignatureTool does not force the entry of a proxy port when configuring a proxy server.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, complete the following steps:

  1. Using a text editor, open the sigtool.set file, which is located in the bin directory under the BlackBerry JDE installation directory.
  2. Complete one of the following:
    • In the sigtool.set file, type the port number for your proxy server as shown in the following example:

      proxyPort=80

    • Disable the proxy server by setting the proxyEnabled field to false and leaving the proxyHost field empty, as shown in the following example:

      proxyEnabled=false

      proxyHost=
