Signing app for tablet, failed to find signing keys

hi all,

I just registered successfully my signing keys, for application for tablet, on my windows XP.

But when i try to sign my app, i get the message: fail to find signing keys.

I checked where the keys were created they are in: c:\documents and settings\myusername\Research In Motion

I also tried to copy them at the "usual" path provided here http://docs.blackberry.com/en/developers/deliverables/23959/Backup_Restore_signing_keys_1801121_11.j... , that I copied them into c:\documents and settings\myusername\Local Settings\Application Data\Research In Motion but it didn't make it any better.

I have no idea of what's going on there... Never had a problem on my other computer but it was a windows 7...

Any suggestion?

What is the exact error you are receiving?  What tool are you using to sign?  Please include the version as well.

Re: Signing app for tablet, failed to find signing keys

Hello MSohm,

I receive the following error:

build:
[exec] [INFO] Parsing command line options
[exec] [ERROR] Cannot sign application - failed to find signing keys

i'm using the BlackBerry Webworks packager from the Webworks tablet OS sdk 2.2.0.5 with command lines :

bbwp pathtomyarchive.zip -g mykeypassword -buildId 1 -o pathtomyoutputdir

again i'm working on a windows XP.

Thanks,

Marion

Re: Signing app for tablet, failed to find signing keys

Does your p12 exist in %HOMEPATH%\Local Settings\Application Data\Research In Motion as well?  Has it been named author.p12?

Did you install both CSJ files?

Re: Signing app for tablet, failed to find signing keys

yes i did install the CSJ files and it created successfully the key at

c:\documents and settings\myusername\Research In Motion

it is named author.p12

As  i received the error, i tried moving author.p12 and the barsigner.csk and barsigner.db to c:\documents and settings\myusername\Local Settings\Application Data\Research In Motion but it wasn't any more successful..

Re: Signing app for tablet, failed to find signing keys

I'm not sure why they wouldn't be created in the standard location.

Can you try using this to sign?  Check the Configuration tab to see if it shows that the keys are installed.

[ Edited ]

Hi again Mark,

I installed the graphical aid. In the configuration, it finds my p12 file but says that the keys are not installed.

However, I can't use the csj files anymore since it says that i have already registered them.

Should I try to install new keys?

It seems also that the graphical aid can't recognize my sdk, i have the error saying:

The path to your SDK is not correct. Please run configuration wizard.

I already did that...

Last, even if I make it to sign with this tool, I will need to make it work with command lines because i want to use a build script for production purpose.

Thanks again for helping,

Re: Signing app for tablet, failed to find signing keys

So I tried to register new csj files that i just received, with the graphical aid.

It created the barsigner.csk still at the same place but the configuration tab still displays: "not installed. Run configuration wizard to install."

Other thing, my connection is behind a proxy therefore i had the message saying : "no route to host. please connect"

With command lines, after having this message i used the command:

blackberry-signer -proxyhost addressofproxy -proxyport portnumber -register -csjpin PIN -cskpass password CSJfiles

is there a way to do the equivalent of that with the graphical aid?

The graphical aid doesn't have support for proxy configuration, so you won't be able to use that.

What language setting is active in XP?

Could you try registering using a different account on that XP machine?  I wonder if there is a permission problem or corruption in the user profile you are using.

Re: Signing app for tablet, failed to find signing keys

The XP machine is in German.

Could that be a source of the problem?

I will try to test with another user account and I come back to you.

Thanks again,
