Re: Signing app for tablet, failed to find signing keys

So I changed machines.

Working now on a Windows Server 2008 R2 standard.

It is in English.

The problems remains exactly the same.

I pasted them into the usual path of Windows vista, that is %HOME_PATH%/AppData/Local/Research In Motion

Was I right to paste them there?

Re: Signing app for tablet, failed to find signing keys

What does %HOME_PATH% equate to on the German version of Windows?

If you manually make the English path and put the keys there, does it work?

I'm working on getting access to a German version of XP to try this out here.

Re: Signing app for tablet, failed to find signing keys

No I already tried to manually make an English path and paste the keys there but it didn't help.

And when I registered a new key, the files have been created automatically in the German path:

C:/Dokumente und Einstellungen/Administrator/Research In Motion

Re: Signing app for tablet, failed to find signing keys

So on a windows server 2008, they keys are created at the following path:

%HOME_PATH%/Local Settings/Application Data/Research In Motion

But there is a junction on my window which makes this path equivalent to %HOME_PATH%/AppData/Local/Research In Motion.

I don't know if this is the reason, but bbwp still can't make it to find the key that it successfully created a few seconds ago... I am still very confused with all this.

Can you elaborate what you mean here?  We tried on a German version here and signing did work correctly.

Re: Signing app for tablet, failed to find signing keys

There is a shortcut or virtual link, i don't know for sure: windows calls it a "junction".

This links the two paths.

So keys were created at:

%HOME_PATH%/Local Settings/Application Data/Research In Motion

but I found them at:

%HOME_PATH%/AppData/Local/Research In Motion

I don't know what makes my production machines "hide" the keys whereas it's no problem to create them. Is there anyway to put the keys somewhere else, "easy to reach" and to specify to the packager where to find them?

Re: Signing app for tablet, failed to find signing keys

There isn't a way to specify their location.

%HOMEPATH%\Local Settings\Application Data\Research In Motion is the expected location for Windows XP.

%HOMEPATH%\AppData\Local\Research In Motion is the expected location for Windows Vista/7.

Can you confirm again what version you are using on this computer?

[ Edited ]

What does %HOMEPATH% resolve to on the German XP machine?

What do you see when you type "ver" on a command prompt on that machine?
