ASP.NET Web Applications as Widget

Is my understanding correct that one can develop an ASP.NET web application for the BlackBerry browser, host that remotely on traditional web servers, and then create a BlackBerry Widget which points to this remote web app? Are there any disadvantages to this versus writing pure HTML and embedding that into a Widget?

Re: ASP.NET Web Applications as Widget

I'm not sure I'm following you. Any widget application you create will be an HTML application. How it connects to the back-end data source is inconsqeuential.

Yes, you can create a BlackBerry widget (WebWorks application) that points to remote ASP.NET content.

I don't have any experience doing so as a disclaimer.

Re: ASP.NET Web Applications as Widget

Yes you create ASP.Net based web application for your widget. I've already create one because i need to fetch data from MySQL database and show it in my widgets. But beware for using external modul in ASP.Net / ASP, because some ASP page cannot render correctly in widget.
