Auto-email?

It has been asked if we can get this

The answer is both yes and no (the yes being it being possible, the no being should I write it?)

For respacable developers this is rather useful - less form to fill in

For Spammers - their dream

I guess I could write it and apply a huge license I waive for proper use

Its a complicated issue

Anyone got a good idea over this one?

Re: Auto-email?

I would find this useful as we currently have a login system which only requires email(no password), don't ask how.

Predicting the user's email before they even enter it would make logging in and sign up a single button press, rather then several to type out the email.

I think there are biggeer spam issues then this. Me and a friend discussed the fact that one could ask for contact files and upload all user's contacts to a database. If each person has on average 200 contacts you can imagine that an app with a few thousand users could easily acquire many emails/BBM/ect. to spam.

I don't think it's a big issue because what does it provide the hacker with? A list of emails to spam big woop... the same amount of effort could be used to actually make an app that would likely make more money then sending out a spam message to X number of people.

You could also ask for shared file access under disguise of allowing a user to upload a photo but instead delete random files stored on their device.

Again what benefit would the hacker gain from doing that?

Phil

This is the issue

Althought I can do it - should I?

I know you are good + trustworthy but not everyone I know is like me + you

I'd be happy you let you have it but the wider population is where I get scared

Sorry - funeral stuff

Oh

Look up the FaceBook API

Dead easy as long as you have a server

Sleepy time for Simon
