BlackBerry Advertisement Service on WebWorks?

[ Edited ]

Hi!,

I was wondering if it is possible to run BlackBerry Ads service on WebWorks applications. As far as I see the Java API could be easily converted to WebWorks API through an external extension library.

Has someone done this already?

Regards

Re: BlackBerry Advertisement Service on WebWorks?

The Advertising service team in RIM is working on this solution.  It will actually be much more simple than an extension.. It will simply be an iframe that you place in your HTML.

Re: BlackBerry Advertisement Service on WebWorks?

In the meantime, can we use any mobile ad service to show ads? The Appworld KB is down and there is nothing in the TOS that says we can't do it.

Double check the TOS, but I don't see why you couldn't use another advertising service.

Re: BlackBerry Advertisement Service on WebWorks?

@interfaSys : Can you please list any of the ad services that support the Webworks Playbook apps? I checked AdMob etc and couldn't find anything that indicates they support Blackberry Webworks/Playbook?

Thanks!

Re: BlackBerry Advertisement Service on WebWorks?

Admob doesn't support Blackberrys. It's the only platform they don't, they even support Windows 7..., so we'll have to test things like Adsense.

Re: BlackBerry Advertisement Service on WebWorks?

As far as I know, you can't use Adsense for anything else than a web site.
Using Adsense for application is a situation that could kick you out of Adsense program.

Re: BlackBerry Advertisement Service on WebWorks?

That is partially correct. You can't use the 'regular' code in a non-contextual environment, so that would exclude iFrames and some apps, but Adsense does have a program for mobile apps. Unfortunately it's Android and iOS only...

A lot of these programs are asking for a URL and are not made to run in apps Smiley Sad.
