I'm working with BlackBerry Webworks 2.0 and developping an application for BB 10 devices. I want to know if there a way to start a background thread or background service which will have the role of starting up the application at preconfigured time . I did it in Android but I don't know if it is doable on BB10 with webworks 2.0 or not.

I found a sloution based on the headless Applications. So to do this we have just to create a project that combines UI part and Headless part.
The headless part is a separate module in a BlackBerry 10 application. As such you could develop the headless piece separately in native language and integrate it later with the WebWorks app by adding it to the package.
Also, background serviced are now possible with 10.2.1 but the amount of triggers is still limited. One of the valid triggers is push. Here an example of Headless apps:
