Blackberry misinterpets url in css files - relative to html not to css

Hi,

Our website is experiencing 404 arriving from Blackberries. It's source are url orders in the css.

BlackBerry9530/4.7.0.75 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105

We have a webpage at domain.com/index.php
We have a css at domain.com/style/style.css
We have a background image at domain.com/style/background.png
We link the background image from our css: url(background.png)
All the browsers seem to follow W3C spec - saying the url should be relative to the css file location.
Blackberry seems to access domain.com/background.png insted thus our users don't see background images, and we got 404's.

Is there a known workaround?
A place the report bugs?

Re: Blackberry misinterpets url in css files - relative to html not to css

We are having a similar problem, but a little different.

In our case, we have:

domain.com/subdir1/subdir2/style/style.css

and

domain.com/subdir1/subdir2/image/image.gif

the css calls the image as

../image.gif

most browsers find it, but Blackberry seems to be looking for the image at

domain.com/image/image.gif

I'm going to try changing the url in the css to absolute:

/subdir1/subdir2/image/image.gif

and I'll see if that works.

Not sure if this bug exists in all versions of BB software.  We've seen it in at least these three:

  • BlackBerry9630/4.7.1.40 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105
  • BlackBerry9630/4.7.1.40 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105
  • BlackBerry8350i/4.6.1.83 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/103
