Blackberry sdk missing in Visual Studio

hi guys,

I'm new to Blacberry development and really hope someone can help. I have downloaded the JDK, Visual Studio Plug-in, relevant simulator and so on but I'm not able to access any of the blackberry functions in my VS project.

I'm using VS2008 on Windows 7 and have made sure that I have selected the blackberry.app and blackberry.invoke etc features in my config file.

I have also tried to download a few sample applications but nothing works. I've tried rebooting my PC, uninstalling and reinstalling everything but can't get any further.

On a seperate note: I've downloaded the simulator for a blackberry curve 8900 but it doesn't show up in the list of simulators in visual studio - have I done something wrong?

Please help!

Many thanks in advance!

Roel

Re: Blackberry sdk missing in Visual Studio

When you try to create a new project, do you see Blackberry as an option?

You should see Visual Basic, then Visual C# then Blackberry. If not I would check your install of the plug in.

Are you on 32 bit or 64 bit win 7?

Re: Blackberry sdk missing in Visual Studio

In Solution Explorer, do you see index.htm and config.xml when you create a new project?

Re: Blackberry sdk missing in Visual Studio

Yes index.htm and config.xml are both there, as well as a folder called extensions.

Re: Blackberry sdk missing in Visual Studio

Well my friend, that's all you need to get started. If you right click on the project in solution explorer you can add everything else you need, for example, add existing item to import a previously written JavaScript file or add new to add your own. Same for images and folders.

Re: Blackberry sdk missing in Visual Studio

That's what I thought, however if I try to run one of the code examples I can't seem to use any of the functions in the API.

For example:

<script type="text/javascript">
var args = new blackberry.invoke.MapsArguments(43.26, -80.30);
blackberry.invoke.invoke(blackberry.invoke.APP_MAPS, args);
</script>

The above code won't work, the simulator will throw an error and the map won't be displayed?

Re: Blackberry sdk missing in Visual Studio

In your config.xml, have you added the feature you want to use to the local object?

Re: Blackberry sdk missing in Visual Studio

Yes, I've added the 'blackberry.invoke' feature to the local object.
