Cannot Sign Application - failed to find signing key file: author.p12

Hi guys, I've been trying to set up signing for the past couple of days but having the same problem... For the BB10

The signing process isnt finding my signing key file author.p12 even though it's in the correct place (C:\Users\kyle.byrne\AppData\Local\Research In Motion inside are author.p12, barsigner.csk + barsigner.db)

Error

If anyone could help I would apprciate it....

Some more info... I am running Windows 7, I am trying to package and sign the BBUI sample for BB10 dev alpha.

Thanks

Kyle

Delete signing files and rerun the singing process worked for me

bbwp assumes nothing, it does not know where your signing keys are.

I think you need to supply the following extra parameters to bbwp:

-gcsk [yourPassword] -gp12 [locationOfAuthor.P12]

Also any folder within C:\Program Files is a bad place to put any output in. Better change that folder after the -o option.

well i've already tried to resign twice....

Bertkoor, do I just go to the WebWorks SDK folder via CMD then run '-gcsk [yourPassword] -gp12 [locationOfAuthor.P12]' ?

Re: Cannot Sign Application - failed to find signing key file: author.p12

no, you're running bbwp with 3 arguments now:

  • the zip file
  • -g [I dont use that for playbook tablet OS]
  • -o [outputFolder]

and to that you need to append the extra options I gave you.

Since this is a lot of typing I started off with putting this in a .cmd file.

Later on I switched to making ANT tasks in Eclipse to do all the zipping, building, packaging and signing.

Just a press of the button now...

Re: Cannot Sign Application - failed to find signing key file: author.p12

Okay I just ran this.....

(archive.zip) -g (mypass) -buildId 0 -o (output folder) (author.p12 location)

But still failed to find signing key....

Would you might typing it up for me? I'm new at this and cant get it working at all, I think it would be the same as the placebook compile?

That should be

bbwp (archive.zip) -gcsk (mypass) -gp12 (author.p12 location) -buildId 1 -o (output folder)

Try running bbpw without any arguments. It then displays the complete reference.
