Check if a web-widget has just been started

Hi all,

I'm trying to check if I've arrived at a screen in my web-widget from the home screen, or from another page.

I've been trying to check document.referrer, but it always comes back empty.

I'm running the web-widget on OS 5.

Re: Check if a web-widget has just been started

The contents of the document.referrer JavaScript object normally originate from the HTTP header received in an HTML response from a web server.

Since the page navigation that occurs within the context of a WebWorks application (for embedded pages) do not break out to a web server, this is why 'referrer' value is not populated.

In this case, I would recommend using a different mechanism for tracking.  You can leverage the querystring to pass each page its own "?referrer=abc" keyword.  Another option, if loading all your content within the context of a single HTML file (e.g. using AJAX) is to save an id for the previous page in a state variable.
