Cross Platform Chat

Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible to create a cross-platform chat app in HTML5/Javascript. If it is can anyone point me in the right direction?

And if it isn't, in what programming language can it be done in.

Regards,

Flow

Thanks for your reply,

But can you point me in the right direction for this. Like an API or tutorial or something?

Re: Cross Platform Chat

I'm not aware of any tutorials on doing this exact app, however I would encourage you to look into HTML5 sockets, which offer developers a way of enabling real-time communication between devices.  It requires a server component to act as a dispatch between connected devices.  Check out http://socket.io/ or http://pusher.com/

I have a sample published here:

Don't forget about BlackBerry Messenger.  If you are targeting the WebWorks Smartphone SDK (BB5 - BB7) then there is also a BBM API to consider:
