Do we need to recompile and submit our apps?

I noticed that my signed bar files created with the 0.9.3 SDK do NOT run on the 0.9.4 simulator.

Now I'm wondering, should i recompile and sign the apps and resubmit? Will this speed up the approval process in any way? I've been waiting for 2.5 weeks now while I've seen plenty of people get their apps approved in a matter of days so something must be going on.

I don't know how the Test House tests the apps, whether they do it on real devices or on the simulator but I suppose as it stands now chances are there my apps just won't work at all when they finally get around taking a look at them. Of course I could be totally wrong too...

Opinions? Maybe someone from RIM who can chip in here?

Re: Do we need to recompile and submit our apps?

Yes, you will want to re-compile and submit your app to ensure it is compatible with the latest version of the OS.

The App World submission team is also testing apps built with 0.9.3 on 0.9.3 devices.  They are currently trying to manage the volume of applications being submitted.

As each beta version of the SDK comes out I would recommend re-compiling and re-submitting to ensure your app is good to go on launch of the PlayBook.

But doesn't resubmitting mean loosing our place in the queue?

I resubmitted both apps compiled and signed with the latest SDK. Hope this speeds things up a bit!

I believe Marc Sohm has stated that it does not lose your place in the queue.

Re: Do we need to recompile and submit our apps?

He has indeed said that.

Also bear in mind that the only thing that matters for the PlayBook offer is the SUBMISSION DATE. Even if it takes till June to get approved we should still get our PlayBooks according to the rules. I'm not assuming that having to fix some bugs after March 31 would disqualify your app. That would be ridiculous.

Yup.. I can confirm that you retain your position which is based on the original submission date.
