I have an app that plays a streaming video using Flash Player, but when I minimize the app or put the phone to stand-by, the app only plays a couple more seconds(probbaly from the buffer) and then stops. Is there any way to prevent this? I would like the app to keep playing while minimized.
The app has the necessary permission to run in background.

The is playing a video either with the application you are using right or from the native video player BB10 to minimize the application this will stop, therefore not capable even video playback while minimizing want to run another application.

on playbook you can change the application behaviour in general settings that if it's in background it goes into some kind of hibernated phase, or not. Not sure about bb10

We wrote a WebWorks extension for Tablet OS to try and keep the backlight on
but discovered a bug which was never fixed
The community did make some progress with a workaround that involved playing a hidden <video> element to force the backlight extension on. I've been trying to find that workaround for 15 mins now but am not having luck!

In the end I don't need it anymore, but I don't think the same workaround would apply for the BB10 as it did for PlayBook. I used that hack, some time ago and it worked fine, by the way
Thanks for the effort, Adam!

Actually there's a published extension to stop the device sleeping on BB10
Tim called it PreventSleep as I recall
