How i receive a large data from remote server

Now we trying to converting our java application to html5, 

 

In our application we receive large size data from server using inputstreams

 

eg:

 

Inputstream = httpConnection.openInputStream(); 

 

How we implement the same with HTML5 ?

What is the type of data that you are streaming?  How large are these files?
