How to get console.log() outputs from a BlackBerry device?

I want to debug an application running on the device. I found this for tablets:

http://devblog.blackberry.com/2011/06/debugging-blackberry-web-apps/

I'm looking to do the same thing for BlackBerry smartphones.

In particular:

1. How can find the IP address of my phone? I can see the device is connected to my PC in Device Manager, but how can I get the IP address?

2. how can I enable Web Inspector on my phone? I'm using a 9790 on OS7. Couldn't find the same options described in the article above on my device.

Thanks.

Re: How to get console.log() outputs from a BlackBerry device?

Hi there,

Check out this article from the HTML5 microsite. Note that the instructions for the Browser are listed first, and are different than a WebWorks application. Also, only OS7 and above can enable Web Inspector, but that shouldn't be an issue based on your device.

Let me know if you have any issues.

Hi Erik,

Thanks for your quick reply. I tried the instructions in the article you sent, but I get an empty inspector page in my PC's browser:

The first page I see, comes with only one link:

When I click on <no title> the empy inspector page is shown.

Is there something I'm missing here?

The URL of the first page is something like: http://192.168.0.98:1338/

And the second empty inspector page: http://192.168.0.98:1338/inspectorBB.html?page=1

Re: How to get console.log() outputs from a BlackBerry device?

I also get the exact same thing - enable the web inspector in the packager, and when i visit the IP it states, I click on the application link, and then get displayed a blank page, with 1 blank input field and some sort of grey bar running down the bottom with nothing else.

Looks nothing like the web inspector on that link posted nor what the web inspector looks like on Ripple, etc.
