MDS Simulator Fails to Start

When I attempt to start the MDS Simulator, the cmd opens, a Java exception appears and then it closes.  If I take the line from run.bat and run it from a cmd prompt, i get:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: net/rim/application/ipproxyservice/IPProxyServiceApplication
Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: net.rim.application.ipproxyservice.IPProxyServiceApplication
        at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source)
        at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)
        at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source)
        at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
        at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
        at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
        at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(Unknown Source)
Could not find the main class: net.rim.application.ipproxyservice.IPProxyServiceApplication.  Program will exit.

I get this even after running the setBMDSEnv.bat batch file.  Why is this?

Re: MDS Simulator Fails to Start

This is typically caused by using an unsupported version of Java.  Please see this link.

Re: MDS Simulator Fails to Start

Thanks landmandb. I banged my head on this for a couple hours and installing directly into C:/ worked like a charm. Cheers.

Re: MDS Simulator Fails to Start

The issue can be solved as follows,

1) Change the /c option to /k so that atleast you can see the error, blackberry guys please dont make things difficult for us developers.

2) Add the following line on the top of the run.bat file, the issue occurs due to incorrect version of JDK used,

set JAVA_HOME=C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_09

This steps worked for me.

Re: MDS Simulator Fails to Start

Yes it did, but the error was something else I think. But the steps did solve the problem.
