MP3 Saving using HTTP on Widgets?

[ Edited ]

Is it possible to have a download prompt for an HTTP Mp3 anchor? I would like to be able to click on an anchor and download an mp3 and be able to play it back later. (These are not copyrighted mp3s for those of you who are wondering).

For example: http://www.test.com/test.mp3

The HTML tag will look like <a href="http://www.test.com/test.mp3">Download here</a>

Right now when I click a similar anchor, it'll just proceed to some "Requesting..." screen. The bar at the bottom seems as if it is downloading the file, but there's no way to play it later that I've seen.

Could someone give me some insight on this please?

EDIT: When I try the same method using a .3gp video, it will bring up the same requesting page but it will say that the video cannot be played and ask if I would like to save it. This is handy, except the default starting location is /documents. Is it also possible to change this? Furthermore, the filename for the file is changed to .exe by default?

EDIT2: .mp3 somehow does the same thing now... maybe I had an error with spelling before.

-Still trying to figure out how to change the default starting location for saving, and why the file extension is changed to .exe.

Re: MP3 Saving using HTTP on Widgets?

Have you checked the MIME type on the server?

Just add the ones you need

This is for Apache server http://www.htaccess-guide.com/adding-mime-types/
