Navigation Mode Highlighting Problems

[ Edited ]

I am currently writing an app for BB OS 6/7. It is a multi-choice, quiz type app, and I have navigation mode set up for selecting and choosing the different choices. I am having a small problem that the choices do not highlight when you scroll over them. Navigation mode does work, it's just that you can't see where you are which presents some usability problems.

I would be very grateful  if anyone could help. Thanks.

Re: Navigation Mode Highlighting Problems

I was having a similar issue, I found that by choosing each element and using x-blackberry-onUp.

If you need any more details, just email me on cjhoney@me.com

Re: Navigation Mode Highlighting Problems

I have almost fixed it now using this link:https://developer.blackberry.com/html5/documentation/using_the_navigation_mode_1866978_11.html
But it still doesn't work when there is just one focusable object on the page.

Re: Navigation Mode Highlighting Problems

I'd just make sure it's not within too many child divs. And then if there is only one focusable object just assign x-blackberry-initialFocus="true" and It should focus. If that doesnt work, try running a javascript function on pageload that focuses the object. such as:

function focusItem(id) {

          blackberry.focus.setFocus(id);

}

Re: Navigation Mode Highlighting Problems

Thanks. I'll try that. I think that I've just seen what was wrong.
