Playbook Camera and HTML5 Canvas

I want to develop a HTML5/WebWorks app where I need access to the camera on the Playbook.  The current API only opens the native camera app.  I want to be able to manipulate the image in real time using the HTML5 Canvas element.  Does anyone know of any javascript extensions for WebWorks that would allow use of the camera outside of its native app?  I want to use functions such as drawimage, getimagedata and putimagedata to copy what is being viewed through the camera onto the canvas element.  Any ideas?
