Remote install of Widgets



In the dev introduction document, there is a mention of a .jad file used to install applications from the web. How does that work? How about application signing, what is that used for?


Currently, I have a gateway that links to a remote site that runs a web application - the reason for this is that this site's functionality and business logic changes often. However, it would be very nice to download that entire web app and run it locally as a Widget, or at least provide this options to power users.


How would you go about pushing a Widget to a device? And what other options are there?

Hi Paul,


The distribution of Widgets is the exact same as Java applications.  So that includes App World, Desktop manager, Over the Air, BES etc..
