Hello, I develop various software applications for numerous clients in different industries, for example Sports, Dating, Advertising, etc... It has come to my attention that for many of these projects, Blackberry users cannot enjoy the site or service properly due to a lack of ability to detect the true location of the user. After doing some digging, I have discovered the reason is all Blackberry devices connect through a central server located in Waterloo, Ontario (Canada). With other devices, they simply connect through their local ISP and as such their IP Address can be used to get a fairly accurate location. I was wondering if anything at all could be done, any workaround or API you might offer, for us to detect the user's true location. This is critical to many of our products and services for proper functionality. We are sure RIM has their reasons for controlling access through a primary point and do not expect that to change, but if there is someway that we could access the true location along with the default data it would be truly appreciated. I would not think we are the only developers experiencing this problem. Any thoughts are appreciated.
