cannot increase select element <Option> height in 9550 storm 2 model

We have a web application where we have used <select> element to show list of items to select a value in the dropdown in a page.  One of our customer has reported an issue that it is becoming difficult to select an option after dropping down the dropdown with the touch input.

We thought of touch input standard to make the <select> element and <option> values height to 30px, so that touch input would be more accurate with the fat fingers too. But in 9550 storm 2 model, we are not able increase the height of the <option> element.

Tried with different CSS properties : height, padding, margin-top etc.. but couldn't increase the height of the element. Could anyone help me in resolving the issue.

Below is the sample html

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<title>Untitled Document</title>
<style type="text/css">
body {
    margin-left: 9px;
    margin-top: 9px;
    margin-right: 9px;
    margin-bottom: 9px;
select option {padding:10px!important; height:25px!important; font-size:1.8em; margin:20px;}
<select id="dropdwn" name="test" style="height:30px;width:100px">
 <option value="item1" selected="selected">item1</option>
 <option value="item3" style="height:40px;">item3</option>
 <option value="item4" style="height:40px;">item4</option>
 <option value="item5" style="height:40px;">item5</option>

I'm afraid that I'm going to need a little more information to properly address this problem. What Apps Version (can be found at Options>About or by typing myver<space> in any auto-text field) are you using?
