I've stumbled across the exact same problem as this poster from 2 years ago:
I need to send an sms. Using invoke with the messenger would be an okay work around if it would close the messenger app after the message is sent. The boolean flag "send" doesn't seem to do anything whether set to true or false.
This field should be set as a Boolean value. If the value is set to true, the message is sent right away. If the value is false, the composer remains on the screen.
Either way, the message composer still stays onscreen until the user manually exits it, then the parent app pops back up. I need the messenger to either work automatically in the background, or close when it send the messages.
I tried the same thing with the native email client and it works just the way I need it:
the onDone closes the email client and goes back to the parent app perfectly and there's no need to encode any of the data sent.
So am I stuck writing my own webworks api for sms, or does anyone know of a workaround? Is
<feature id="blackberry.message.sms" />
going to get support for the blackberry10?

A colleague of mine is working on an extension that will enable this functionality for an SMS Sender. It's almost ready and should be committed to our Github repository soon. Keep an eye out here:
I don't have an exact date unfortunately as to when it will go live.
